15 PhD Positions for MITIME
Marie-Curie Doctoral Network in migration, temporality and urban inequalities
2026 – 2029
We invite applications for 15 fully funded PhD positions, to begin in September 2026. Hired Doctoral Researchers will become members of MITIME, an EU-funded doctoral programme offering early-stage researchers international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral training.
Each MITIME Doctoral Researcher will be employed full-time on a 36-month contract and enrolled in a PhD programme at one of the network’s seven partner universities in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, or Türkiye. Successful candidates will conduct original research on migration, temporality, and urban inequalities, and participate in all network-wide training and mobility activities.
Applicants to the programme must hold—or be close to completing—a Master’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. migration studies, anthropology, sociology, urban studies, social policy, political science, or public administration). Deadline for applications and recruitment timeline
The following is the indicative schedule for the MITIME doctoral recruitment process:
- 21 November 2025 — Launch of the call for applications for doctoral researcher positions.
- 1 February 2026 (23:59 EET) — Final deadline for online submission of applications.
- February–March 2026 — Evaluation of applications and online interviews with shortlisted candidates.
- April 2026 — Conclusion of the selection process and notification of successful applicants.
- April–June 2026 — Formal submission by selected candidates to host institutions’ degree-awarding doctoral programmes and applications for work visas/residence permits (where required)
- 1 September 2026 — Planned start date for all MITIME doctoral researcher contracts.
